Pressfort vs All-In-One Security

An All-In-One Security alternative with hack repair included.

All-In-One Security, or AIOS, is a popular free hardening plugin from the team behind UpdraftPlus, with a low-cost Premium upgrade. It's a toolkit you configure and run yourself.

The short answer

AIOS is a capable, inexpensive toolkit: a free firewall and login protection, with weekly malware scans, uptime checks and country blocking in Premium. It's great value if you're hands-on. It doesn't clean up hacked sites or run updates, and backups go through a separate plugin. Pressfort does all of that for you.

Where All-In-One Security is strong

AIOS has over a million active installs, and its free version is generous. You get a web application firewall, login lockouts, two-factor authentication, the option to rename your login page, file change detection, database hardening, comment spam prevention and an audit log, all at no cost. A security strength meter shows how far you’ve got and what’s left to switch on.

It comes from TeamUpdraft, the team behind UpdraftPlus, so it’s well maintained and well supported. Premium adds weekly malware scans run from AIOS’s own servers, uptime and response-time monitoring, Google blocklist alerts, country blocking and email support.

Premium is also unusually cheap, and it’s priced by the number of sites rather than per site. Two sites cost $89 a year, and unlimited sites cost $349. For a freelancer or agency on a budget, that’s hard to beat.

Where Pressfort is different

A service, not a toolkit. AIOS gives you a lot of switches, and it’s up to you to choose the right ones and keep an eye on the results. Pressfort is set up for you and watched for you, with plain-English reports by email.

The fix is included. AIOS Premium offers advice and support if malware is found. With Pressfort, a WordPress developer cleans up the site and closes the gap that let the attack in. Two clean-ups a year are included for each site.

Virtual patching. In 2025, 46% of WordPress vulnerabilities had no fix at all when they were made public. Pressfort blocks attempts to exploit known plugin flaws until the real fix is out. AIOS doesn’t list virtual patching among its features.

Updates and backups handled. Pressfort takes a backup, tests updates on a staging copy of your site, then pushes them live. It keeps 90 days of off-site backups, with no separate backup plugin to set up.

Where AIOS goes further. It’s much cheaper, especially across several sites. Its login tools, like two-factor authentication and renaming the login page, aren’t part of Pressfort, and you can keep using them alongside it. And the free version alone is a solid start for a hobby site.

AIOS is far cheaper than Pressfort: Premium covers two sites for $89 a year, and half that in the first year. That buys tools rather than a service. If your site is hacked, AIOS offers advice and support, but the clean-up itself, and the updates that stop the next one, are still yours to arrange.

Pressfort vs All-In-One Security, answered

Something else? Ask it in a free security check request.

Is the free version of AIOS good enough?

For basic hardening, it's a good free option. It includes a firewall, login lockouts, two-factor authentication and an audit log. Malware scanning, uptime monitoring and country blocking need Premium, and there's no clean-up service on any plan.

Does AIOS Premium remove malware?

AIOS Premium scans your site for malware every week, and its team offers hands-on advice and support for malware removal. That's different from Pressfort, where a WordPress developer removes the malware for you and closes the gap that let it in.

Does AIOS back up my site?

AIOS can run a database backup through UpdraftPlus, a separate plugin from the same team. For full backups, you'd set up UpdraftPlus yourself. Pressfort backs up your whole site every day, stores it off-site and keeps each backup for 90 days.

Can I keep AIOS alongside Pressfort?

You can keep AIOS for login features like two-factor authentication, but switch off its firewall so it doesn't overlap with Pressfort's. Running two firewalls can cause conflicts and slow your site down.
